Update on my life, which has become a blur of activity ...

Last weekend, the Director of A Midsummer Night's Dream became frustrated for various reasons with the Musical Director. So now, I've kind of taken over the majority of his pre-performance duties. This includes composing all the music for the show (we're scrapping what we've done so far, which was not much) and teaching all the music to the other musicians (fairies). I've narrowed it down to six main pieces of music, but that's still a damn lot of composition in a very, very short space of time. It should really have all been composed by last week. I'm aiming to get it done by Sunday, but I know that's going to get pushed back, because I have wall-to-wall rehearsals between now and then, which gives me precious little time to compose, doesn't it?

Whining aside, this is an incredible opportunity, and I am so excited about it. I've always wanted to compose incidental music for a play or a film, and now I'm being given my chance. I just hope that I'll be happy with a finished product that I won't have had time to perfect.

At least I don't have to run sound. The musical director is still onboard for that!
